One of the main things wrong with this Great Nation of ours is there are too many people in positions of power who are either stupid or they are liars. Memphis Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace is certainly one of the other and quite possibly both. Wallace and his team finally completed a long and frustrating courtship to sign toxic veteran Free Agent guard Allen Iverson to a one year contract at short money. And now Wallace has the Frickin Stones to say that the move was not intended to increase ticket sales!
Wallace talked to the “Boston Globe” about signing the “NBA Bad-Boy” to a one year deal that was reported to be for $3.5 million. Wallace told the paper that signing the controversial guard was not to increase ticket sales; it was to bring in a positive force to his club.
Wallace said “The passion in which he plays the game every night, the intensity, the desire to win, the frustration when he loses, those qualities will be noticed by his teammates and will help us immensely; because even during the controversial days of his career, I never once read an article that said Allen doesn’t care, Allen is a good loser, or Allen doesn’t play hard. He wears his emotion on his jersey, but that’s very positive. It’s very easy to get numbed by losing in the NBA when you are a team trying to build.”
Yo, Chris if you think that Iverson is such a positive force then how do you explain the statements that he made back in early April while playing for the Detroit Pistons? “The Answer” did not sound too positive when he told reporters “I’m in a position now that I’ve never been in my whole life! It’s harder than I thought it would be. With the back injury, I have to sit out at the start, then go in, then sit again. It’s tough to really get going. I take my hat off to the guys who can come off the bench and be effective. It’s tough for me. I’m struggling with it!”
In fact Chris Iverson was so disgusted with coming off the bench he was talking about hanging up his shoes if that was his future in the NBA. Iverson said “I’d rather retire before I do this again! I can’t be effective playing this way. I’m not used to it. It’s tough for me both mentally and physically. If I’m able to go out there, I should be able to get it done and I can’t right now. It’s my fault. I have to be able to overcome the adversity and do what I have to do. I just have to find a way to get it done. Not being 100 percent makes it harder and you can see that I’m not 100 percent.”
Sounds like a guy who is team first all the way to New York Vinnie! Look New York Vinnie has been saying from the Frickin jump that if this signing happened it would be a Frickin train wreck. But the only Frickin positive you could possibly get from this signing is more tickets sold. Chris, face facts the only Frickin reason you got Allen Iverson on your sorry team for one season at $3.5 million is he had no other Frickin options! So one of tow things are going to happen with your new guard; he will resurrect his career in which case you will not be able to re-sign him for next year. The other option is he will stink up the joint so bad and be such a Frickin Cancer on your team you won’t want to re-sign him.
So Chris to try to spin this as anything else as a ploy to increase ticket sales for your team is an out an out Frickin falsehood. And if you truly expect anybody to buy that spin then you are Frickin more stupid than New York Vinnie thinks you are. And New York Vinnie does not think you are the brightest light on the Frickin Christmas Tree to begin with if you catch my drift.
