Should The Nets Draft Wall And Trade Devin Harris?

0717b John Wall 3.18b Should The Nets Draft Wall And Trade Devin Harris?

Mark New York Vinnie’s words down on this; because this is something you can take to the Frickin Bank. Devin Harris will either be traded (if the Nets are smart) or will leave the team as a Free Agent (if the club is not smart) as soon as he is capable of doing so. The waters have now been Frickin sullied and once that Crapolla becomes public it all comes down to just a matter of when.

The New Jersey Nets have a head coach in Kiki Vandeweghe who has never coached at any level. Of course there is a “lack of direction” in the huddles because Kiki has no idea what direction to send you in! You can not have on the job Frickin training in the NBA during the season. However that is what is happening with the Nets.

The New Jersey Nets do not have a lot of valuable assets on their roster however Devin Harris is one of them. If Rod Thorn is smart he lets this die down and then next summer Harris is in a deal that gets them some young talent that might help solve the Nets problem with a “lack of direction.”

Nets Don’t Have “Lack Of Direction” Just Headed In Wrong Direction!

Your Old Pal New York Vinnie has told you from Day One that making predictions on things that will happen in the NBA is not Frickin Rocket Science! It is just a matter of Frickin “Common Sense” which seems to be in very little supply on our Planet these days. Back in December New Jersey Nets starting point guard Devin Harris decided to air out the team’s “Dirty Laundry” to the media. Harris decided to share his opinion that the Nets had no direction; and New York Vinnie told you then that statement would most likely mean the guard’s days with New Jersey were numbered.

Thursday “The Star-Ledger” reported that Basketball Hall Of Fame guard Magic Johnson suggested in an interview that the Nets may want to draft Kentucky Wildcats freshman point guard John Wall if they get the first pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. Johnson also told the paper that if New Jersey does draft the guard from Kentucky that they should trade Harris to another team.

Now Wall is a young man who has made quite an impression in his one season playing in the NCAA as he has averaged 16.9 points, 6.36 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Wall seems to be the consensus choice to be going with the number one selection in the Draft this June. The Nets of course have the worst record in the NBA at 7-61 and could wind up with the first pick.

Johnson told the paper that he believes that Wall is the Real Deal. He said “Yeah, he’s special. Not only on the court, but off the court as well. He’s one of those guys who’s got ‘it.’ I went down to Kentucky to watch him recently, and he’s just amazing. He’ll have instant impact.”

However Magic believes that if New Jersey drafts Wall than Harris would be worth more to the Nets as a Commodity than as a player. The former Lakers great said “Well, you probably have to think about trading Devin, because he can bring in something good. He’s a good piece, but if you’ve got to sell tickets and build around a younger guy, you can bring in a nice piece for Devin. Maybe you try playing them together, and he can be a mentor for a while. But you can’t take the No. 1 guy; a franchise guy; and not start him.”

There are no guarantees of course that New Jersey will get the first pick in the Draft as they have to win the Lottery to do that. The Lottery very rarely seems to go to the team with the worst record in the NBA; but New York Vinnie would subscribe to Johnson’s suggestions in a Frickin Heartbeat! Get yourself a real coach for next season and allow Wall to work with your young center Brook Lopez who seems to get better with each game. Trade Harris for a good small forward and you now have a core to work with!

This has been an incredibly tough season for the Nets; and it looks like it may have cost them a player they were counting on in Harris. But this could be a case when you take one step back to take two steps forward; if you catch New York Vinnie’s drift!
