Victoria Azarenka scared fans at the US Open when she collapsed during a match against Gisela Dulko. After obviously struggling out on the court, Azarenka toppled over and medical personnel ran to her aid. She was transported off the court on a wheel chair and was taken to a hospital. Thankfully, Victoria Azarenka was up and talking soon after collapsing.
The culprit to her collapse? A concussion she suffered while practicing for the match.
Said Azarenka: “I was warming up in the gym prior to my match against Gisela Dulko when I fell while running a sprint. I fell forward and hit my arm and head.”
Originally, reports were blaming the blistering temperature and the high humidity.
“I felt worse as the match went on, having a headache and feeling dizzy,” said Azarenka, who was trailing 5-1 when she collapsed. “I also started having trouble seeing and felt weak before I fell.”
