Over the last couple of weeks we have heard rumblings of former NBA players who had been retired for a while were planning on making attempts to return to playing in the league. When former players like Greg Ostertag and J.R. Rider talked about coming back from retirement New York Vinnie wrote a column asking Are Former NBA Players Trying To Return Because They are Broke?
Although there was still some doubt about the true intentions of guys like Ostertag and Rider in New York Vinnie’s mind there is no doubt at all that the only reason that another PUD’s name surfaced Monday as the latest former player to try to come back is strictly for the Benjamins. Our old buddy Antoine Walker former NBA All-Star and last heard from via a Nevada Police Blotter may try a come-back attempt next month according to reports.
“Sports Illustrated” reporter Chris Mannix has texted on his “Twitter” account that he ran in to Walker this past weekend. Mannix says that the former NBA All-Star told him that he was in talks with four NBA teams and plans on being at an NBA Training Camp as a non-guaranteed invitee with one of those clubs. Walker last time in the NBA ended on December 18, 2008 when the Memphis Grizzlies bought him out of his contract.
Earlier this summer New York Vinnie labeled Walker as “ the stupidest Frickin human being to ever walk the planet“ after being arrested in Nevada back in July. Walker was arrested back in July while playing in a Celebrity Golf Tournament at Lake Tahoe. The reason behind the arrest stemmed from the fact that Walker had a warrant out for him in the State of Nevada due to $822,500 in unpaid debts that he had racked uup in Vegas. When Walker came into the state to play the Tournament he got popped!
Okay there may have been shades of doubt over the reasons that Ostertag and Rider want to play again in the NBA but there is no question with Walker it is because he needs the bucks. He has ever right to try to get back into the league and any team in the NBA has every right to give him a contract. However in New York Vinnie’s mind that team in particular and the NBA in general would be just a bit sleazier if this comes to pass. There are more than enough PUDS currently playing in the NBA; they can certainly do without adding another one like Antoine Walker.

New York Vinnie is certainly not somebody you are going to call a Rhodes Scholar by any stretch of the imagination. So most of the time you are not going to read New York Vinnie call somebody out on their intelligence if you catch my drift! But in this case New York Vinnie can not help himself! Former NBA All-Star Antoine Walker may be the stupidest Frickin human being to ever walk the planet. In fact it just may be a Frickin miracle that ‘Toine has made it to the age of 32 years old.
Last Friday I felt a little bad to be honest with you after coming down so hard on Walker in a column entitled Yo Antoine Walker; Are You Truly Just A Moron? But now after this report from the Associated Press on Monday New York Vinnie realizes if anything I was not tough enough on this Frickin Pud.
Friday we found out that Walker was out on bail after being arrested in Nevada for making bets that he could not cover. According to the reports the former Boston Celtics star owes $822,500 in unpaid debts! Monday Walker went to court and reports came to light exactly why he was arrested last Thursday in a Lake Tahoe hotel. He was in the state for a Celebrity Golf Match! This imbecile went across state lines where he knew there was a Frickin warrant for his arrest for a Celebrity Golf Match! Have you ever heard something this stupid in your life?
So Vinnie started thinking maybe Walker didn’t realize that Tahoe and Vegas where he owes the debts are in the same Frickin state? Maybe ‘Toine does not know about the Internet and that all these Frickin Police stations are connected? Because what else could be the explanation for this? This man is definitely dealing with at least one loose screw.
Now according to the reports the two sides are trying to work this out before it gets to court. But even if it does New York Vinnie would like to see the judge impose one penalty on Walker. He should have to wear a bell around his neck like a Frickin cat so people can keep track of him. Because it is plain to see he can not care for himself!

The older New York Vinnie gets the more and more amazed he is at life on Earth! Just when you think you have heard what was the stupidest thing in the world somebody goes and tops it! Case In Point former NBA All-Star Antoine Walker who according to the Associated Press is up to his chin in hot water. It seems that Toine got himself into a lttle trouble in Vegas making bets that he could not cover and has been busted on criminal charges . According to the reports the former Boston Celtics star owes $822,500 in unpaid debts!
Okay first of all Walker is lucky that this is 2009 and not let us say 1969 otherwise he would be missing right now. His body may or may not have been eventually recovered. But times have changed and now the authorities get involved which lends itself to less messy situations.
Walker has been charged with writing three bad checks totalling a million bucks. He so far has made good on $178,000 and is now free on bond. Antoine here is some advice from New York Vinnie: You better get yourself a better accountant first of all. Secondly you don’t ever want to get the Big Guys mad at you in Vegas!

Former NBA all-star Antoine Walker is playing golf this weekend in northern Nevada before a scheduled court date Monday in Las Vegas in a case involving an $822,500 gambling debt. Walker, who last played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2008, teed off Friday in a celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe a day after posting $135,000 cash bail following his arrest at Harrah’s Tahoe.
